Dr. Chris Stohr
An environmental/engineering geologist formerly a senior research scientist at the Illinois State Geological Survey, Prairie Research Institute, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL
Dr. Stohr taught and lectured at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Fulbright Senior Specialist. His work and expertise include: waste management [landfills], natural hazards, mapping, remote sensing, industrial site selection, Level 1 and 2 PESA, and geodetic surveying. He has taught remote sensing - aerial, space, & terrestrial; VNIR, multispectral, thermal imagery, image processing, enhancement, classification, manual and machine analysis; outcrop and mining photogrammetry and terrestrial laser measurements and analysis [close range and aerial]; downhole geophysics -gamma logging for 3D mapping of glacial sediments. As a degreed agronomist he researched dredged sediments use for brownfield restoration and remote sensing for crops. He is an elected official working with legislators to fund groundwater monitoring for sustainable supplies and quality, cover crops, and economic development.
