Description: The 60-minute webinar entitled “Fundamentals of Geophysics for Engineers” is an overview of 4 of the most commonly employed engineering geophysical methods (Refraction Seismic, Surface Wave (MASW), Electrical Resistivity Tomography, Ground Penetrating Radar). The webinar is focused on the basic concepts, applications, advantages, limitations, and cost-effectiveness.
Who Should Attend: This webinar is designed for engineers, geoscientists, and other professionals involved in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management, and related fields. It caters to individuals seeking a basic understanding and appreciation of geophysical methods and their potential application to engineering projects.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this webinar, participants will:
Better understand the basic concepts of the 4 of the most commonly employed engineering geophysical methods.
Better appreciate the applications, advantages, limitations, and cost-effectiveness of the 4 geophysical methods.
Gain practical insights into the selection of the most appropriate geophysical methods for a specific engineering project (e.g. characterizing subsurface conditions, detecting geological features, etc.).
Develop the skills necessary to effectively communicate with geophysical experts and integrate geophysical data into multidisciplinary engineering projects.
